  1. Big crowd ponders Fairfield’s future

FAIRFIELD HARBOUR – The chances of collecting a $1.45 million civil judgment from third-party ‘amenity’ provider MidSouth Golf are minimal at best, because most of the company’s properties – including one operating golf course and one abandoned course – are encumbered by a first mortgage of at least $3 million.
New Bern-based attorney John King told almost 400 Fairfield Harbour residents Wednesday night, who packed the community’s volunteer fire department, that “appraisals for the property are probably less than what MidSouth Golf owes Wachovia Bank, and if that is the case, Fairfield Harbour could become an unsecured creditor.”
