The Eastern Carolina Council of Governments (ECC) has been awarded a Federal grant from the Administration for Children and Families. This grant called the Compassion Capital Fund (CCF) is intended to assist faith based organizations (FBO) and community based organizations (CBO) to strengthen their operations and build their capacities.

The goal of the Compassion Capital Fund Demonstration Fund Program is to help grassroots faith-based and community-based organizations maximize their social impact as they provide services to those most in need. These activities should result in increased organizational sustainability and effectiveness, enhance their ability to provide social services and create collaborations to better serve those most in need. The grant requires that ECC assist faith-based and community organizations with capacity-building activities in four critical areas: Leadership Development; Organization Development; Program and Services; and Community Engagement.

Through an application, screening and review process, ECC will identify 12 Community-Based Organizations or Faith-Based Organizations (nonprofits) that are based in Carteret, Craven, Duplin, Greene, Jones, Lenoir, Onslow, Pamlico or Wayne counties that would benefit from capacity building assistance. In addition to one-on-one direct technical assistance, these 12 participating organizations will receive an average of $2,500 worth of goods/services that will further their ability to meet the needs of the organization and those it serves.
